Impact Of Ozone Layer Delpleation on Humanity

Effects of Ozone layer depletion on humans Ozone layer depletion has an enormous impact on humans because of the dangerously increased amount of radiation and UV rays. When the ozone layer is depleted in a certain country, there might be concentrated amount of heat coming powerful sun rays. Ozone depletion has also proved to increase the risk of developing diseases like: Skin cancer, weakened immune systems etc (source). The concentrated UV exposure has also led to clouded eyesight, premature skin wrinkling, Actinic Keratosis and so on. If ozone layer depletion is ignored, it could have an enormous impact on humanity, by increasing the risk of developing a dangerous disease.

Deforestation/Animal Extinction

Deforestation clearing a large amount of trees a forest. Deforestation can occur from industrial use, agricultural or natural wildfires. Over the years, industries such as the logging and construction industry have been longing to either use timber for goods or to clear the area to make structures (i.e.) houses, buildings etc.. Trees are what take in pollutants (i.e.) carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide etc., and replace them with oxygen. Trees are also inhabited by certain organisms to take refuge from predators. Logging and construction companies will often locate a forest and then clear the area all the trees in that one location. When deforestation occurs, many organisms that are used to the forest environment cannot survive because of the different oxygen levels and temperature. The organisms that inhabit the trees either don't survive because of climate change or are preyed upon by predators (source). Deforestation is a serious matter that leads to several other problems, if humanity is to inhabit this planet it has to stop ignoring these problems and contribute to help solve these issues (Source).

Ozone Layer Depleation

The ozone layer a barrier made from a variety of concentrated ozone molecules in the stratosphere (source). The stratosphere starts from 15 kilometres and ends at 50 kilometres from the Earth`s surface. The ozone layer acts as a barrier by reducing the amount of radiation and UV (ultra violet) rays coming from the sun. When ozone layer depletion occurs it allows a concentrated amount of harmful radiation and UV rays to penetrate the earth's atmosphere thus triggering the greenhouse effect. Ozone layer depletion occurs when all the pollutants such as carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, methane etc. combine and create a powerful chemical that slices through the ozone layer like a warm knife through butter. Today, large industrial areas release powerful ODS (ozone depleting substances) that penetrate the ozone layer faster than carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide combined (Source).

The ultimate goal of WWF is to stop the destruction of nature and conserve the environment for the future, in order to not face the dangerous situations that are to take place as humanity heads down this unsustainable path. Some of the problems that the Earth has encountered now are: Deforestation/Animal extinction and Ozone layer depletion.
